Staff in the School of Medicine are helping to realign our School for the future. Dean of the School, Professor Paul Worley, said “The environment in which our School operates has changed. The environment now is based around collaboration and interdisciplinary themes. We need to identify our particular areas of strength, the areas with which governments and health agencies are going to want to engage, and identify where can we offer value to their work. We know these agencies will be looking for collaborative teams to do developmental work, and we have tremendous strength in these areas – we just need to better organise ourselves around those strengths”.

Professor Worley said the changes have been initiated by staff who are looking for a simpler School structure. He hopes the changes will be in place by the end of the year.

Professor Worley encourages all staff to get involved, through forums and steering groups. “This is an opportunity for us to examine and align our capabilities with our structure”, he said.
Lisa O’Neil has taken on the role of the Realignment Project Manager. Staff can visit the Realignment web pages for progress notes and further information (FAN login required, restricted to School of Medicine staff).
