Professor Fran Baum is Head of Department and Professor of Public Health at Flinders University, Foundation Director of South Australian Community Health Research Unit, the regional representative for the People's Health Movement in Australia and Pacific, and Chair of its Global Steering Committee and a commissioner for the WHO Commission on the Social Determinants of Health. Professor Baum is one of Australia 's leading researchers on the social and economic determinants of health. She is leading a number of major research projects including the Australian Health Inequities Program funded by the NH&MRC. She is a fellow of the Academy of Social Science in Australia and the Australian Health Promotion Association and a Life Member of the Public Health Association of Australia.
