Emerging Leaders Program
The Mission of the Emerging Leaders program:
To inspire and motivate people who are emerging or potential leaders in their communities, and who are committed to promoting healthy communities and building a prosperous country to take action to address health inequity and the social determinants of health in their own communities.
The Objectives are:
To broaden participants' understanding and thinking on the social determinants of health and to apply an equity lens to their work / thinking
To encourage participants to critically appraise and reflect on the proceedings and outcomes of the 2 day symposium
To ensure that the participants have the opportunity to network and learn from leaders in the field To recognise the importance of developing a local plan for action in participants' own communities / organisations
To develop an understanding of the process involved in understanding the issue and achieving change
To share stories / lessons learnt between Australian and US delegates
To establish a network of peer leaders to provide mutual support and mentoring guidance post symposium
To ensure that the participants have the opportunity to share and grow ideas in a supportive environment
Approach to the program:
It is anticipated that the participants will have a range of skills and backgrounds, and so the program delivery and content will be delivered in a participatory way based on expectations expressed by applicants prior to the Symposium.
