In 2006, Miranda was awarded a PhD for research related to the human services experiences of ‘at risk' mothers with young children and in particular, what constitutes ‘helpful help'?
In 2006, Miranda was contracted by SHine SA (sexual health agency) to undertake a consultative research process and develop a comprehensive Sexual Health Strategy and related research products for the SA Department of Health.
In 2007, Miranda was contracted by the Department of Health to develop an evidence-based Health Promotion and Parenting Framework for the South Australian Children's Centres initiative.

Community Activity
Miranda has worked extensively for nearly 20 years as a consultant and facilitator specialising in comprehensive primary health care service and program development, management development and support, strategic planning and leading change in health and community service organisations. She is well known throughout the health system as a conference, workshop and meeting facilitator.
