Community Activity
- Healthy Districts Project. This is a Myer Foundation-funded project and is based in Tamil Nadu, South India. It is an action research project using community development and Appreciative Inquiry processes to build community capacity to support the health of its members. It is based on the World Health Organization's Healthy Districts Approach. The project is in partnership with the Madras Christian College, Chennai, India and the University of South Australia, Adelaide.
- Communities for Children. This is an initiative in Murray Bridge, South Australia and surrounds which is funded by the Australian government's Stronger Families and Communities Program. My role is supporting and building the capacity of the community development workers in the program.
- Multicultural Mental Health Access Program, Board Member, former Chair, Inaugural Manager (1993-2002), McMHAP began in 1993 in response to concerns within the Vietnamese community about mental health issues which were not being addressed by the mental health services. A three-year innovative project grant was received under the National Mental Health Strategy. After that McMHAP attracted recurrent funding until 2003 for its work in increasing access for people of diverse ethnicities to mainstream mental health services in South Australia.
