Year 3: Rural Attachments and Full Year Rural Programs

Year 3 consolidates the knowledge and skills of Years 1 and 2 and is a year that emphasises clinical skills, patient management and professional behaviour. It is the year that demands students take the role of trainee doctors´ with guidance from a wide range of clinicians and educators. Students will be exposed to a range of teaching strategies from clinical PBL, teaching ward rounds, professional meetings to still a large component of self directed learning.

There are usually more applicants than positions. Selection during Second Year is based on an autobiographical statement and an interview. All PRCC programs offer introductory sessions during Second Year for those planning to apply.

In 2006, the 10th year of the Riverland PRCC, the quality and national and international significance of the program was recognised through several prestigious awards.

In 2008 a Community Contacts Program was established to provide PRCC students with support from members of the rural communities in which they are based.
