Introduction

The Flinders University Rural Clinical School (FURCS) adds a rural focus to educational programs spanning undergraduate Medicine and Nursing through to post-graduate internship and registrar training programs.

Medical students in the Graduate Entry Medical Program at Flinders University have opportunities to develop insight into rural and remote health issues at each year level.

The Parallel Rural Community Curriculum (PRCC) at Third Year allows students to learn in a rural general practice setting for the whole year.

At Postgraduate level FURCS is involved with rural training programs for doctors in postgraduate years 1-3 at Jamestown and Mt Gambier, and in the Sturt Fleurieu General Practice and Education and Training (SF GPET)program for general practice registrars.

The Flinders University Rural Health Society (FURHS) draws members from the whole spectrum of health courses at Flinders. They run a lively educational program to prepare students to work as health professionals in rural and remote locations.
