Welcome to Flinders Human Behaviour and Health Research Unit (FHBHRU).
A centre for research, evaluation and development of chronic condition management. This includes coordinated care, care planning, behavioural change and self-management. We specialise in the education and training of health professionals and consumers.
The Flinders Human Behaviour & Health Research Unit is situated in the southern part of Adelaide in the grounds of Flinders Medical Centre (the teaching hospital of Flinders University) in South Australia. The Unit is part of the Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Flinders University.
FHBHRU’s vision:
FHBHRU will be a leading national and international Centre for inter-professional education, research, consultancy and clinical service provision for the improvement of health outcomes through health behaviour change.
FHBHRU’s mission:
By 2010 FHBHRU will be a national and international leader in assisting people to live well and live longer through improved health behaviours by:
- Developing prevention, early intervention and self- management approaches
- Education of health service consumers
- Health professional undergraduate, postgraduate and vocational education
- Research and consultancy
- Clinical service provision
- Policy development
- System improvement
