The Flinders University of South Australia has an internationally recognized research profile. The School of Medicine is integrated within the Flinders Medical Centre, a 500 bed teaching hospital.
The Department of Anaesthesia at Flinders Medical Centre provides
anaesthesia for
approximately 10,000 operations and 2,000 deliveries per year and
teaching in anaesthesia,
pharmacology, anatomy, physiology and pain management.
The Anaesthesia Research Unit is a unit of the Department of Anaesthesia. It is comprised of three clinical and scientific staff supported by two extremely competent technical staff The Anaesthesia Research Unit has an impressive record of research funded by the NH&MRC, Charitable Organizations and industry.
Research is conducted to GCP and this has been audited. The experience
of the group means
that research projects are successfully concluded within the agreed
time frame. The schedule
created for each project is continuously tracked to enable prompt
action to prevent slippage of
deadlines The Anaesthesia Research Unit has the skills to design
studies, prepare protocols and
applications to ethics committees and regulatory bodies, conduct
trials, analyse data and
prepare reports for publications.
